The short version

We are an information service. We help people understand mental health and addiction treatment options in Colorado, and we sell one-on-one consultations.

We never sell your information, and we never hand it to treatment programs that pay us. If you ask us during a consultation to help you get into a specific program, we share what that program needs — but only the ones you name, and only when you ask.

We are not a healthcare provider. We do not diagnose, treat, prescribe, or bill insurance, and we are not a covered entity under HIPAA. That means your information here is not protected by HIPAA — it is protected by this policy and by Colorado law.

If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you are in crisis, call or text 988. This website is not an emergency service and nobody is monitoring it in real time.

What we collect

If you take the quiz

The quiz asks about things like who you are seeking help for, whether substances or mental health are involved, how much it is affecting daily life, how often you drink or use, withdrawal symptoms, medical conditions, how treatment would be paid for, where you are, and whether you have had thoughts of suicide.

You can take the entire quiz without telling us who you are. Your answers are only saved to our system if you choose to submit the contact form at the end.

If you do submit that form, we save your quiz answers along with your name, email address, phone number, and any message you write. We consider these answers sensitive personal information and treat them accordingly.

If you book a consultation

We collect your name, email address, phone number, the session length you chose, whether you want phone or video, and your requested date and time.

If you book a paid consultation, payment is processed by Stripe or PayPal. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record that a payment was made and its reference number.

If you email or call us

We keep what you send us, so we can respond and remember the conversation if you contact us again.

Automatically, when you visit

Our web host records standard technical information: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and the time of the visit. Our site uses cookies that are necessary for it to function, and our hosting provider collects basic traffic statistics.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta or Facebook tracking pixels, or advertising trackers of any kind.

Why we collect it

• To show you which level of care may fit your situation
• To respond when you ask us to contact you
• To schedule, hold, and follow up on consultations
• To process payment for paid consultations
• To keep the website working and secure
• To send you emails you have specifically asked to receive

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.

Who else sees your information

We use a small number of outside services to run this business. Each one only receives what it needs.

• Google Workspace and Gmail — your name, email and appointment details, to send confirmation and reminder emails.
• Google Calendar and Google Meet — your name, email and appointment time, to create your appointment and video link. If you book a video consultation, you are added as a guest on the calendar event.
• Stripe — your payment details, to process paid consultations. Stripe receives your card information directly; we do not.
• PayPal — the same, if you choose PayPal.
• GoDaddy — technical and traffic data, for website hosting.

Each of these companies has its own privacy policy governing what they do with data.

What we do not do

• We do not send your information to treatment programs that pay us, in exchange for your information or otherwise.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
• We do not add you to any email list unless you tick a box asking us to.

We may disclose information if we are legally required to, for example a valid subpoena or court order. If someone tells us they are in immediate danger of harming themselves or another person, we may contact emergency services.

When we share information with treatment programs

If you book a consultation and want help getting into a specific program, we will share what that program needs to help you — usually your name, contact details, and a summary of your situation.

We only do this at your direction. We will tell you which program we are contacting, and we will not contact anyone you have not agreed to.

What we never do: we do not send your information to programs that pay us, in exchange for your information or otherwise. We do not sell or trade contact details. A program paying to be listed on this site gets no access to anyone’s information, and no influence over what the quiz recommends.

If you only take the quiz and never book a consultation, your information is not shared with any treatment program at all.

Some treatment programs pay us

Treatment programs may pay to be listed or featured on this site. When that is the case, we say so clearly on the page where it appears.

Paying us does not buy access to your information, and it does not change what the quiz recommends. The quiz result is based only on your answers.

How long we keep things

• Quiz responses with contact details — 2 years from submission
• Anonymous quiz responses — not stored
• Consultation booking records — 3 years, for business and tax records
• Payment records — 7 years, as tax law requires
• Email correspondence — 2 years
• Website technical logs — per our host’s standard retention

You can ask us to delete your information sooner. See below.

Your rights

If you live in Colorado, the Colorado Privacy Act gives you the right to:

• Know what personal data we have about you
• Get a copy of it in a portable format
• Correct anything inaccurate
• Delete it
• Opt out of targeted advertising, sale of your data, and profiling (we do not do any of these, but the right exists)
• Appeal if we refuse a request

Colorado law also treats information about mental health and substance use as sensitive data requiring your consent. By submitting the quiz contact form, you are giving that consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by asking us to delete your information.

Residents of other states may have similar rights. We apply these rights to everyone who asks, regardless of where you live.

To make a request, email connect@coloradotreatmentguide.com with what you want. We will respond within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity first, so that nobody else can request your information.

There is no charge, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Young people

This website is intended for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

The quiz can be taken about a person under 18, and a young person may take it themselves. If you are under 18, please involve a parent, guardian, or another trusted adult before booking a consultation or sending us your contact information.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us information without your involvement, email us and we will delete it.

Security

Your information is stored on our website’s hosting, protected by encrypted connections and access controls. Booking and quiz records are private and visible only to authorized staff.

No system is perfectly secure. We keep the amount of information we collect small on purpose, which is the most effective protection we can offer.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell people who have contacted us.
